Whohoo Got a Job as Webmaster at my University
Saturday, February 2nd, 2008Thats, right got my first official “Webmaster” job at my universtity, but did not like the title I was given on the letter of appointment “Undergraduate Student Assistant ” did not see that coming. But might talk to my Boss and see if something can be done about that as it does not reflect good on my Resume i suppose.
It’s a 4 Month contract for now, after 4 months hoping to get the job again but with different title and full time as i love the web mastering stuff. Have been learning bits of php recently as am working on my first project of making the current non-operational booking services , operational once again. Got some script from web, was able to tinker with the code, and get a working system online, but looks like i might have to start from scratch as I might have to add features like , availability of the stuff for a particular date, automatic denial of booking for those who have overdues on their account, a nicer admin panel and other stuff….. will see how it goes.
Hoping to learn a better understanding and working of coding with PHP and possibly MSSQL. It’s a great opportunity for me to enhance my skills of webmastering, for example in the first week only i was able to learn quite some interesting stuff i did not know about, like auto fill of form field with server authentication , disable editing of a form field, bits of java script and more ….
Started working on Moday Jan 28,2008, the day we had the Blizzard Treat (that is we were hit by a blizzard) luckily it was not as bad as last year…
This job makes my schedule really tight as i go to school too you know, and have to finish my Masters Project by end of June,2008, got some seminar thingy in April so will need to prepare for that also, am taking 2 courses also, one is for audit , and other has no credits attached to it, so not much pressure from the courses. Did finish my course requirements successfully, with overall GPA of i think 82%, got 84 on my last 2 courses so am happy that I am DONE WITH COURSES and those long nights !!!!!!
Alright will try to post more information on the blog as time goes by, right now gotta go back to working on my project (have allocated weekends and 3 hrs every day in evening after work for the same, hopefully that will be enough, by end of this month hoping to have all the papers and information collected, so next month can start writing it down on my project file
